Shri Mataji Gaushala is one of India’s largest and most devoted sanctuaries for the lifelong care, protection and rehabilitation of abandoned, injured, sick and special-needs cows. Situated in the holy land of Barsana, our Gaushala is home to more than 6,50,000 Gau Mata who live here with complete safety, nourishment and dignity.

For us, gau-seva is not charity — it is a sacred duty, a responsibility and a commitment to protect life in its purest form.

Shri Mataji Gauvansh Sewa Sansthan works as an integral pillar of Shri Mataji Gaushala.
Both together form a unified system dedicated to:

• Rescue of abandoned and injured cows
• 24×7 medical and emergency treatment
• Shelter for visually-impaired, disabled and elderly cows
• Awareness campaigns to promote compassion
• Sustainable solutions like biogas, compost and organic farming
• Supporting farmers with natural manure and cow-based farming practices

This combined effort ensures that no cow is left without care, respect or protection.

 

What We Do

1. Large-Scale Rescue & Rehabilitation

Every day, our rescue teams bring in cows from highways, city roads, villages and accident-prone areas. Many arrive injured, starved or abandoned.
Here, they receive immediate medical care, food and a safe home.

2. Advanced Veterinary Care

We operate round-the-clock medical facilities equipped with doctors, medicines, ICUs, isolation wards and special care units for disabled and blind cows.

3. Lifelong Shelter for 60 thousands+ Cows

From newborn calves to elderly cows who cannot walk, each one is cared for without any discrimination.
Every cow is fed daily with fodder, green grass, jaggery-water, nutritional supplements and seasonal treats.

4. Sustainability Initiatives

To create an eco-friendly and zero-waste model, we run:

• Large biogas plants
• Organic fertiliser production units
• Cow-dung based natural farming support
• Renewable-energy projects

These initiatives reduce pollution, help farmers and create rural employment.

 

5. Rural Development & Employment

The Gaushala supports thousands of local families through jobs, farming collaborations and training opportunities.
